Mentoring Program

The Visionary Mentoring and Scholarship Program is Rooted for Life’s opportunity to water its community’s educational and socioeconomic thirst by collaboration with the community and its parents of full-time high-school students, grades 9-12.  Providing a combination of mentoring, educational and life-skills resources, and social building activities, scholars of VMSP become equipped with the tools necessary for a successful transition into their college, and young adult lives.

The Visionary and Mentoring Scholarship Program is open to 25 inner-city, at-risk high-school scholars each year, who are assigned a trained, one-on one mentor that will offer guidance in education, good decision making and life goals, while building trusting on-going relationships with both scholar and parent(s) through personal interaction.

Mentoring scholars attend several educational and life skills classes for personal and scholastic edification.  Various topics include, How to Write an Essay, Test Taking Techniques, Love DOESN’T Hurt, Financial Planning, The Weight is Over, Dress for Success, and more.

Scholars also gain knowledge and insight from the success stories of diverse guest speakers; all in an effort to inspire our scholars as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

Active high-school scholars who successfully COMPLETE the 7-month Visionary and Mentoring Scholarship Program, are on track to graduate from high-school, and are enrolled in an accredited college, are eligible to apply for the VMSP scholarship in their high-school graduating year, and are publicly acknowledged during our annual April Farewell Celebration.

Your charitable gifts and contributions afford Rooted for Life the ability to continue the VMS Program, and MONETARILY REWARD its deserving graduates. Please consider giving a donation today, so that we can continue sending our kids to college tomorrow!
